London's Thermal Bridging Specialists

Marmox ThermoblockA load bearing thermal insulation block which eliminates the cold bridge at the wall/floor junction.

Our thermoblock and thermal bridging product is a block of load-bearing insulation material designed to be placed at the base of a timber-frame or masonry wall to address the thermal bridge. Its thermal conductivity is 0.047W/mK, which will result in a significant reduction in Y values when used at wall to floor junctions in properties across London.

Its mean compressive strength is 9N/mm2, enabling it to be used under most load-bearing walls and its characteristic shear strength is 0.18N/mm2. In addition, because they are impermeable to water, they are ideal for areas without damp conditions without any loss of their insulating properties. So, not only do Thermoblock thermal insulation products reduce thermal bridging, but they also create a moisture barrier.

So if you're based in London, call us today on 01634 835290 or leave us a message on our contact page to learn more about our Thermoblock thermal insulation products, as well as our range of sound absorptions products and waterproofing products.

Marmox Thermoblock can be associated with the NBS clause: “F30-185 - accessories/ sundry items for brick/ block/ stone walling”

Guaranteed Compliance to Building Regulations

Thermal Insulation BlockAll building regulations in the UK and Ireland now say: “The building fabric should be continuous over the whole building envelope and constructed so that there are no reasonably avoidable thermal bridges in the insulation layers caused by gaps in the various elements.”

Our thermoblock satisfies this requirement perfectly, by connecting the floor insulation with the wall insulation.

The BBA certified Thermoblock thermal insulation was created to provide an affordable, effective and easy solution for the problem of thermal bridging. One area of major concern has been where the floor meets the wall (timber frame OR masonry) but using Marmox Thermoblock will guarantee compliance with current regulations and also with proposed zero carbon regulations.

How to Design a Thermally Efficient Wall-Floor Junction

Thermal Insulation ProductsMarmox Thermoblock thermal insulation is NOT an aircrete thermal block and typically it replaces the bottom row of aircrete blocks to stop the cold bridge at the critical wall/floor junction. It can also be used underneath a timber frame wall fixed to the sole plate. Alternatively, it can be positioned underneath the concrete slab/b+b thermally isolating this floor from the foundations.

The standard block thickness in London and the UK is a 65mm high block; this is because this is the typical UK brick height and this thickness has been designed to give the necessary insulation required. To achieve an R value of 2, we can also manufacture a 100mm thick version.

Available to all London clients, the thermoblock thermal insulation comes in three different widths, 100mm, 140mm and 215mm and is suitable to form the base of walls comprising block, wooden frame or brick. It is important to ensure that these walls are now narrower than the width of the Thermoblocks which they are placed upon.

Marmox - the thermal insulation experts

One of the most affordable and easiest ways to significantly cut the amount of energy used by a London office building, public premises or home is by making use of effective thermal insulation products and the Thermoblock thermal insulation from Marmox is one solution that can really make a difference. Whether you're interested in making a building more environmentally friendly, cheaper to keep warm in the winter or meeting regulations, our Thermoblock could be the ideal solution to thermal bridging problems. Alongside the BBE accredited designs, we are able to offer a basic and limited thermal modelling analysis of your specific junction type.

Here at Marmox, we are experts in providing sustainable and cost-effective building products to construction and refurbishment professionals around London. We supply the product both through the major nationals and through our independent stockists.
