Age UK supports insulation scheme
The charity Age UK has joined forces with the Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP) to offer cavity wall and loft insulation to older people in the country for free.
The scheme is open to single people with a pension or income of less than £18,000 a year or couples living on less than £25,000.
However, those aged over 70 are able to apply if they earn less the £30,000 per annum.
The insulation is free up to a value of £800 and can save homeowners upwards of £150 a year on their heating bills. It also includes free energy saving light bulbs and a hot water tank jacket.
Pensioner Miss Vallely applied to the scheme last year and had all her work carried out for free.
"There was excellent communication from office staff. I had very friendly and tidy workers in my home who were very professional. I am very pleased and would urge others who qualify to apply and take up this excellent offer from Power NI," she said.
