British Gas offers customers cavity wall insulation
British Gas is to offer free thermal insulation to all of its domestic customers to protect them from rising energy costs.
It claimed this provision could help homeowners maintain a warm house while cutting their bills and saving energy.
People who use the utility company have until December 22nd of this year to register their interest for loft and cavity wall insulation, which is valued at a minimum of £200 and should reduce annual expenditure on gas and electricity by a similar amount.
The company intends to provide lagging to 200,000 households "this year alone".
This is part of its Warmer Winter package, which also involves a commitment to refrain from raising fuel costs over the season while providing low income individuals with a discount.
"With rising energy prices, hard-pressed households need extra help this winter," British Gas managing director Phil Bentley declared.
Other power companies are offering similar deals to their customers, with E.ON providing thermal insulation to people on qualifying benefits or aged over 70.
