Cotswold residents could get free insulation
People living in the Cotswold could be able to have insulation fitting in their homes for free thanks a new grant being made available.
The Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard reports that Cotswold District Council has launched a joint scheme with Warm and Well that offers local residents the chance to apply for up to 100 per cent funding for solid wall insulation.
The programme also allows people to obtain grants for upgrading their boilers or central heating system.
A similar move was launched in Goole, East Yorkshire earlier this month.
Known as Poet's Corner, the £1 million scheme has already seen 20 households receive insulation with a further 400 set to be completed later in the year.
Some 100 of these homeowners will receive their home improvements for free, while others will pay just £750 for over £10,000 worth of work.
Figures from the Insulation Guarantee Agency (CIGA) found that barely 1,000 homes had insulation fitted nationwide in April.
