Edinburgh households to receive loft and cavity wall insulation
Edinburgh homeowners are to receive help with the installation of loft and cavity wall insulation following new funding from the Universal Home Insulation Scheme (UHIS).
The Scottish capital has received a cash boost of £1 million from the initiative and according to councillor Cammy Day, this will reach out to around 1,600 households.
He said: "With the recent gas and electricity price increases the extension of this scheme is going to help even more households in the capital reduce energy consumption and tackle fuel poverty."
The measures are part of a £6 million investment by the UHIS for the whole of Scotland, which is seeking to provide insulation to up to 10,000 families in total this winter.
It was also announced by the Scottish Government that from this week (October 29th), a cashback voucher scheme will go live, allowing around 35,000 homeowners to apply for £500 towards energy-saving fixtures.
Mr Day stated loft and cavity wall insulation will provide Edinburgh residents with warmer homes and lower fuel bills.
