Free heating insulation scheme comes to Liscard
Free thermal insulation is to be installed in homes in Liscard in Wirral as part of a community project.
The Cosy Homes scheme offers cavity wall and loft insulation to homes in the region in a bid to reduce household fuel bills.
Since its launch in October, the £1 million programme has successfully boosted the thermal insulation in more than 2,500 homes.
According to Wirral Council, cavity wall insulation can save an average of £110 per year from fuel costs, while loft insulation can cut about £145 a year.
Organisers are targeting certain areas - including Liscard - in a bid to improve the number of people using the service.
After making a request for thermal insulation, households are then referred for a technical survey.
Subject to that inspection, homeowners can then receive free thermal insulation, as well as other advice on reducing fuel bills and increasing household income.
The bulk of the funding for the project is coming from British Gas, with the local council making up the rest.
