Free thermal insulation scheme extended
A Scottish thermal insulation scheme is to be extended until December, with local residents urged to take advantage of the free initiative.
The Carbon Emissions Reduction Target funding for loft and cavity wall insulation was initially due to finish at the end of September, but this has been extended until the end of the year, the Donside Piper and Herald reports.
All households in the AB33 area are eligible, with people of all income groups invited to apply for upgrades to their properties.
A&R Hepburn Limited will provide the service, which includes standard loft insulation, lagging top-ups to 270mm and cavity wall insulation.
Those who sign up to the scheme could find they save a quarter on their heating bills if they lay thermal insulation in their lofts and up to a third if they install insulation in their cavity walls.
Although all lagging is free, any "enabling measures", such as adding or enlarging a loft hatch, access equipment and fitting loft vents would require a charge.
