Heating insulation grants for Scottish carers
People receiving carers' allowance are the next group of Scottish citizens to be provided with thermal insulation grants.
Solid wall insulation, cavity wall insulation and heating insulation around pipes are some of the upgrades that could be fitted to the homes of approximately 7,000 individuals in the country after ministers extended the Energy Assistance Package.
Energy Action Scotland fuel poverty director Norman Kerr welcomed the development, asserting that it is important this scheme is crafted so "as many vulnerable groups as possible can benefit" from it.
He encouraged those who believe they may be eligible to "call the government's helpline" in order to receive more information.
Cabinet secretary for infrastructure and capital investment Alex Neil claimed it is "vitally important that [carers] are eligible for the right assistance and avoid falling into fuel poverty".
The Scottish government also recently unveiled the £12.5 million Universal Home Insulation Scheme, which is thought to potentially affect around 200,000 domiciles in the nation.
