Homeowners 'can save money by laying thermal insulation'
Homeowners could save money by investing in thermal insulation and laying it themselves, it has been suggested.
Tim Doherty, managing director of the National Self Build & Renovation Centre in Swindon, said: "Insulation is ... something that can be tackled and, with energy prices increasing, it's important to keep your home as energy efficient as possible."
He explained how fitting lagging designed to prevent heat loss may not sound like an attractive job but "is worth it" as in the long term it can save money on fuel bills.
The expert described how people who opt to install their own heating insulation could save approximately £300 on labour costs and at the same time make their property more appealing if they ever plan to sell it.
Following the success of last year's event, the World Green Building Council is currently hosting World Green Building Week, which will discuss issues such as Tackling Global Climate Change - Meeting Local Priorities.
