Landlords 'should take advantage of energy-saving scheme'
People who rent out properties have been encouraged to make sure they take advantage of a government scheme to help fund the cost of installing wall insulation.
Landlord Assist explained that a new initiative allows individuals to claim tax relief on energy-saving items such as home insulation.
The Landlord's Energy Saving Allowance will run until April 2015 and is designed to promote the installation of green measures in the home.
Graham Kinnear, managing director of Landlord Assist, said: "Many landlords I speak to are simply unaware that this support is available."
He added thermal insulation can help to "increase the long-term value and rental potential of the property".
Up to £1,500 could be given in relief to those who take part in the scheme, which will then help reduce the expense of having new products fitted.
Landlord Assist helps people to recover their property and any rent arrears that are outstanding.
