More households are switching to smaller energy suppliers
The number of households who decided to change energy suppliers in the UK rose by seven per cent in March, new statistics have revealed.
Firms outside the Big Six benefited particularly well, with 43 per cent of these homes switching to smaller providers, City AM reports.
Energy UK commissioned the research, which was compiled by Electralink, to prove there is choice for consumers out there who wish to turn away from the rising costs of the larger companies.
The general public have grown weary of rising energy prices, while at the same time suppliers have been boosting their profits.
This research comes amid news that there was a record number of complaints submitted about the Big Six during the first quarter of 2014.
Approximately 10,600 issues were raised with providers in the January to March period this year, compared to 3,200 in 2013 - a surge of 224 per cent.
