Thermal insulation scheme in Hampshire
Loft and cavity wall insulation are being offered to residents of Hampshire.
The county council has formed a partnership with Hart District Council and received money from Scottish Power for the Insulate Hampshire initiative, so the first 5,000 customers can receive lagging in the wall space from £75, with this rising to £99 for the attic.
Loft insulation can also be topped-up for £49 up to a maximum of 100 sq m.
Members of the public who apply after this time will be offered these renovations from £99 each, subject to suitability ascertained during a free technical survey of the house.
People aged over 70 or receiving certain welfare payments may receive these renovations at no cost, with independent advice also provided on issues such as installing solar panels or benefit entitlements.
Annual savings of up to £300 can be realised through loft and cavity wall insulation, the scheme argues, pointing out that the initial costs of fitting these products will therefore be recouped in less than one year.
