Three council housing developments announced in Aberdeenshire

A local authority in Scotland is set to invest almost £13 million into three new council housing developments.

Aberdeenshire made the announcement that a total of 96 homes will be built in the area, including 30 in Westhill, 42 in Peterhead and 24 in Inverurie.

It is just one part of a larger plan to create 350 properties by 2018, due to the growing demand for social housing from people in the county, STV reports.

Jim Gifford, chairman of Aberdeenshire Council’s Policy and Resources was delighted and stated that he believed they would meet their target.

He said: "Aberdeenshire Council is committed to building more council housing to a high standard and to support a range of people from families to people with more specialist needs."

Some of the houses being developed will be two-bedroom units, while three-bedroom homes and flats will also be built.

It is hoped that the project will be completed by December next year.
