Marmox Curved Board

Save time and effort with flexible Marmox Curved Boards
Marmox Curved Boards can be used to clad, waterproof and insulate archways and curved walls and also to create curved partition walls, curved bathroom panels, moulded tiled seats, round or curled cubicles etc.
Boards are curved “inwards” (closing the serrations) or outwards (opening the gaps between the cuts) depending on the situation.
To clad a solid wall or archway.
Method 1
Against a gentle curved solid surface, the boards are curved “inwards” to close the cuts
i.e. they are placed with the cut surface against the wall
They are fixed to the wall with a continuous bed of flexible tile adhesive.
Marmox Curved Boards can only be used this way if the radius of the curve is 400mm or greater.

- A flexible (C2) tile adhesive is applied either to the wall with an approximate thickness of 6mm.
- Comb out using an 8mm notched trowel over the complete surface in straight lines as swirly patterns will trap air.
- The board is then placed into position and tamped evenly over the entire surface to ensure uniform adhesion.
- Subsequent boards are fitted together without any gaps.
- When the adhesive has set, Marmox Self Adhesive Reinforcing Tape should be applied over all the joints.
Method 2
If the curvature is of a radius less than 400mm, the board should be fitted with the the serrated side on the outside.

- A flexible (C2) tile adhesive is applied either to the wall with an approximate thickness of 6mm.
- Comb out using an 8mm notched trowel over the complete surface in straight lines as swirly patterns will trap air.
- Place the board is into position initially holding the centre of the board and then carefully working towards the edges. Tamp evenly over the entire surface to ensure uniform adhesion.
- Subsequent boards are fitted together without any gaps.
- When the adhesive has set, make up some more adhesive and spread this over the surface and press it into the gaps.
- Apply a layer of Marmox 1m wide fibreglass mesh over the entire surface.
- Finally, spread some more tile adhesive over the surface and the mesh at a thickness just sufficient to keep the mesh in place (< 1mm)
To create a Partition Wall or a Curved Wall against or within a Frame
By filling the cuts with tile adhesive, Marmox Curve Boards can be made in to virtually free standing rigid structures. Without a solid surface behind the curved board, it is recommended that the boards be used with the serrated surface on the outside.
A rigid stable curved board can be created very simply either by making the board into the required shape and strengthening by filling the gaps with tile adhesive.
Alternatively, a temporary frame or mould or template can be made out of wood or Marmox to hold it in the desired shape whilst the board is “stiffened.”
- Whether the board is in situ or being shaped prior to being used, using a flexible tile adhesive cover the serrated surface with just enough material to fill all the gaps.
- Place the Marmox 1m wide fibreglass mesh over the entire surface and bed this in with a further thin layer of tile adhesive (< 1mm) using a trowel.
- When the adhesive has cured, the board will be a shaped and rigid and ready to fix to the frame.
- The boards should be supported by studwork that will allow screws to be used at every 30cm.

Size:
Marmox Curved Boards are made from 20mm Marmox Board, 600mm x 1250mm. One board can be curved to clad a 400mm diameter column.
