What makes Marmox Fireboard Different?

Reaction to fire vs fire resistance

Marmox Fireboard is certified A1 non-combustible in accordance with BS EN 13501-1. A1 is a reaction-to-fire classification and means the product is classified as non-combustible.

Fire resistance is a separate measure of how long a complete construction can maintain its required performance when exposed to fire. Marmox Fireboard has also been tested to BS EN 13501-2 and provides up to 60 minutes' fire resistance in the tested wall construction.

Fire resistance performance depends on the complete construction, including the substrate, board thickness, fixings, joints and finish. Refer to the relevant Marmox specification for the applicable build-up.

Use as a Render Board

Marmox Fireboard can be fitted to masonry, timber or steel frame constructions. Available in 20mm, 50mm and 100mm, Fireboards are rigid enough to be fitted directly to timber batons, yet they are easy enough to cut with a hand saw and lightweight enough to be installed single handed. Once installed the joints are taped with Marmox mesh tape.

Use on Ceilings

Fireboard can be used as a lightweight lining for ceilings and can be finished directly with plaster. Its A1 non-combustible construction and acoustic and thermal insulation properties make it suitable for a range of ceiling applications.

Where a specific fire-resistance period is required, the complete ceiling construction should be assessed against the relevant fire-performance requirements.

What are Fireboards made from?

Made using a blend of Marmox mineral stone wool, which is then coated on the sides with a fibreglass mesh embedded in our unique Marmox honeycomb cement based surface. This has been tried and tested for many years on our popular Marmox Multiboards. This offers an ideal surface for applying a finish coat of render or plaster.
