Church is cosy for Christmas thanks to insulation work

A church in Bromley Cross, Lancashire will be able to offer services in a warm and cosy environment this Christmas thanks to it receiving £23,000 worth of energy efficiency improvements.

Cornerstone Church, which has been open since 1984, has been kitted out with cavity wall insulation and a new boiler thanks to a grant from the Biffa Award.

Lee Banfield, Pastor of the church, told that the work has given the place a boost as it can now offer standard room temperature of 21 degrees Celsius

Previously, it struggled to get above 18 degrees Celsius.

"For this time of year, the building used to be quite cold. No matter how long we had the heating on, it could never get warm.

"But we now have a lovely warm and welcoming community facility and everybody has noticed the difference in temperature."

The Biffa Award is managed by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts (RSWT) and provides grants to deserving community and environmental services.
